I love Claudia Dean, from the lovely woman she is, to her generosity in tutorials, to her thoughtfully created clothing line and website.

The Aurora Plum, as anticipated, is a beautiful, high quality leotard. Unfortunately, I wasn’t careful enough in size selection. I’m shy of 5-10” and a healthy 145 lbs. Extra large in most leotards I’ve ordered are spacious and comfortable. Based on Claudia Dean’s size chart, and my previous leotard orders, I ordered an XL.

My Aurora Plum leotard is too tight to wear. I thought it might be due to the full lining, in essence doubling the thickness of the fabric, which is really nice. So, it’s been sitting in my closet.

I love it so much, today I decided to explore the sizing more. I think generally our world does pretty well with online sizing, motivated to shop largely online by the pandemic.

What I’ve recently come to understand (in this case, the hard way) is that the lower number in a size range is comfortable, and the upper number tends to reflect maximum stretch.

I comfortably fit all XL Aurora Plum measurements in
the size chart, except my girth is a snug 64”. On me, the XL Aurora Plum fits like a large (if not a medium) in USA sizes. I think My XL in Claudia Dean World needs to be the next size up (XXL). Girth is apparently more important than chest, waist and hip sizes.

Excited and expecting it to fit, I removed the tags right away, so an exchange is out. I’ll gift it to one of our dance theater’s students, and perhaps order the larger size at some point. Claudia’s leotards are unique and vibrantly colored, so I could always use another, from desire, if not need. ;)

Again, this was my oversight. It’s a lovely product.

I loved the original Aurora leos (I have three colors) but this new fabric is even more amazing! super thick and soft... the color is a great purple!
